Cookie policy

Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website. This page also covers other storage in your browser that works the same way, such as localStorage, because the same rules apply to it.

We don't use analytics, advertising or tracking cookies, so we don't show a cookie banner. The only optional thing we store is a list of the cars and stations you look up, and only if you turn it on.

We don't count visits with an analytics service, show adverts, or track which links you follow to other companies. If that ever changes, we'll name the company involved and ask you first, before anything is stored or collected.

Separately from cookies, when you search for a vehicle we record information about the search on the server: the vehicle's make, model, body type, fuel type and age, the risk rating we gave it, when the search was made, which part of the site it came from, how long it took, and whether it worked. We also note which of our stock sentences the report used. Alongside that we store the number plate in two forms. One is scrambled one way, so it can't be turned back into the plate (for counting unique vehicles). The other shows only the first three characters (for our internal review). The full number plate is not stored in this database.

This data is kept for up to 90 days, and our legal reason is legitimate interests. It lives on our server, not on your device, so the choice above doesn't cover it. Turn the list on or off here at any time. Turning it off is as easy as turning it on, and deletes the list straight away.

You can also delete stored data through your browser settings.
