Accessibility statement

Our aim

We want everyone to be able to use MOT Wise. We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA, the standard most UK websites work to.

What doesn't work well yet

These are the problems we know about. We're working on them, most important first.

  • On some phone screens, the yellow number-plate box hides its Check button. The Go key on the phone keyboard still works.
  • The History tab of a report scrolls sideways on very small screens.
  • The home page scrolls sideways on tablets and when the page is zoomed in.
  • Some small text on reports is too faint to read easily.
  • Some screen readers don’t read out the number plates on the Compare page.
  • On the Checks & questions tab of a report, screen readers don’t read the viewing checklist as a list. You can still tick each item with the Space key.
  • When we can’t find a number plate, the page title still reads like a normal report.
  • The MOT stations page scrolls sideways on very small screens.
  • Some boxes you type into, such as the number plate box, change only faintly when you move to them with the keyboard.
  • While a report loads, the loading message changes quickly.
  • Some scrolling on the site is animated even when your device is set to reduce motion.
  • On phones, the menu doesn’t close when you press Escape.

Need help, or a report in another format?

If something doesn't work for you, or you'd like a report as plain text or large print, email hello@motwise.co.uk. Tell us the number plate and the format you need. We aim to reply within 3 working days. You can find other ways to reach us on our contact page.

What this statement doesn't cover

The MOT and vehicle records themselves come from DVSA and DVLA, and we show them as we receive them. Other websites we link to, such as GOV.UK, have their own accessibility statements.

How we check

We check pages with automated accessibility tests and by using the site with a keyboard only. We haven't yet tested it with a screen reader.

Last checked: 26 September 2026. We'll check again whenever we fix one of the problems above.
